We decided to give this a try this year. We're we pleasantly surprised? Yes! We loved it. The portions were ridiculously large and the prices were super reasonable. I loved the pimento burger...the homemade pimento cheese was so yummy. The hand-breaded onion rings were amazing. My son had the fried shrimp plate. The shrimp tasted better than most restaurants where the prices are twice what they are at Castaway. Needless to say, we will be back. Support local businesses and stay away from the tourist trap of Calabash.

Went for dinner and was very disappointed. Food was not good and service was slow. Mashed potatoes were instant like kfc. Some things seemed battered there but others were pre-made and not good. Canned green beans. Sides and drinks came in styrofoam. Cartoons on the tv. Sweet tea was good apparently. They said they were really busy but there were a lot of empty tables and the place is small. We waited at least 15 mins after sitting down for drinks (which came after salad). No one asked us how the food was after it was served. Then we waited another 10 minutes before we flagged someone down for the check and she told us to go to the front to pay. They don't bring checks to the table. How were we supposed to know that?? Def would not recommend to anyone.

Staff were very friendly. Good was okay. However, they stop serving breakfast at 11:30 AM, even though the menu says "Breakfast Served All Day." We only found this out after we had been there 10 minutes and were placing our orders. I'd suggest noting that information on the menu, or at the very least, having the waitress tell you when taking drink orders.

This used to be a good place but since it has changed ownership, it's absolutely disgusting unless you like eating pure lard and grease off your singed styrofoam plates. How about adding some food into your grease. The cashier was talking down to customers for no reason. On the other hand, if you just care about big portions and not quality then this is the place for you.

Very friendly staff, generous portions of flounder cooked well at reasonable price....only $21/ 2 flounder meals with 3 pieces each. Nothing fancy on interior but also no hour long wait to get a table in prime season.

They were out of biscuits and sausage gravy (their delivery truck hadn't gotten here yet), we waited almost 20 min for our breakfast, and all the drinks and plates were styrofoam. On the upside, our waitress was nice and the food was good.

Very good breakfast. Little bit of a wait but with not many options near by ya wait. Egg sandwiches are tasty.

I guess Saturdays aren't the best here? They were out of everything or said they didn't serve certain things on Saturdays. Yet they don't bother putting that anywhere in the menu. Everything we ordered had to be changed because they were out, etc. Apparently this place is great during the week. My dad eats here often and was very disappointed with today's service.

Big portions. Burgers were huge and good, but could use more seasoning. The fried pickles cost 2.75 and the serving was massive. Staff was friendly. Other than that a typically little diner.
